I have been a patient at the Royal Marsden for ten years . Initially referred to them after my local hospital were unsure of what my condition was, fortunately for me it was the best thing they could have done! I was initially a patient of the wonderful Professor Ian Judson, who made his diagnosis immediately rather than the 3 months in limbo at my local hospital. Subsequently I have been a patient of Mr Robin Jones. Robin is extremely professional, but without being aloof. He always takes the time to listen and answer any questions I might have about my ongoing condition. He is kind and caring and always genuinely interested in you as his patient. I know that at times he has seen my at my worst, but he is always proactive about treatment and managing the whole person. I know without a doubt that should I experience any change in my condition or have any queries, that I could contact the Marsden and that he would get back to me. Robin offers great all round support abd heads up a fantastic team in the sarcoma unit. Iwould recommend him highly to anyone diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma.

I have been a patient at The Royal Marsden for 15 years and have seen many different consultants within that time. Dr Robin Jones has been the most consistent in all pertinent areas with my condition. He is professional, caring, sympathetic and generous with his time. This applies to care and advice given during consultations and at any other time that I have had need of it. Dr Jones has always made himself available whenever possible when issues have arisen with my health. I am an NHS patient and feel that the level of treatment and care that I have and still receive under Dr Jones' consultancy could not be more replete. In view of the fact that I am still here to tell the tale, with a short term life expectancy originally diagnosed by a previous consultant, I am hoping to continue to be under the care of Dr Jones for many years to come.

I was originally diagnosed in 2014 with solitary fibrous rumour and underwent surgery at another hospital on my right leg to remove the tumour. Having been faced with this difficult challenge, I began asking for advice on leading hospitals from family, friends and their contacts who had experience of cancer. The Royal Marsden was often cited as the place to go. Thankfully I managed to get an appointment with Dr Robin Jones and was listed as one of his first patients on his return from working in America. Robin has always been compassionate, extremely knowledgeable, easy to talk to with a good sense of humour and importantly an excellent bedside manner. Robin and his multi-disciplinary team are very forward thinking and able to think outside the box. I’ve undergone two trials at the RM, the latest of which has resulted in me having to travel to LA for treatment which Robin has been able to establish. I will be forever grateful to him and his team.

I have been a patient at the Royal Marsden for over 9 years and for the last 4 I have been fortunate enough to have Robin Jones as my consultant. He has always been very professional, compassionate and without fail thorough no matter how busy he is or what pressure he may be under. Robin has more patience than anyone else I know and shows great sincerity and empathy when I need it most. His listening skills are impeccable and provides information that is easy to understand. Robin is a wonderful Doctor that gives me hope.

I see Dr Jones as check after 6 monthly scan of gist having been referred to Marsden about 3 years ago. At first he was most helpful in getting me transferred to NHS as I had had one private doctor consultation trying to identify what my problem was. It was a recurrence of tumours for which I had been operated 30 years ago on 3 occasions and which had now reappeared. I reacted negatively to first chemo treatment and Dr Jones' caution in stopping the chemo has been successful as, at the moment, the scans show. His attitude to me has always been encouraging, friendly, professional and attentive to detail, including as to my general health. I am 90 this year! Also we have never had to wait in clinic for more than 10 mins or so, but his checks have never felt rushed. I am very grateful to him for his care, attention, and experience and c an have no suggestions for any improvements.
